Do you guys find it's best to hunt before, during, or after the storms? I've been out a few times during, with not much luck personally. And not diligent enough to know when to head out before...

During the storms can be some fast and furious shoots if the timing is right, after the storm can be good if the weather has been freezing for a few days and it starts to warm up and thaw out. Those birds hit the fields hard after a good freeze.

Yeah, that's what would really help is some cold weather. If it would freeze up for about a week, and then thaw out, that's when you want to be out there.

The edge of the front if you have weather will be awesome, during the storm can be lights out and after it passes through, things settle down some in my area.  With the flooding you have to shift to new spots as pocket waters are to deep in many cases.  Good thing about salt is it doesn't freeze in our area.  Lots of birds, but wind and tides are needed to get the birds moving.  If it freezes, the hunting is very good and birds suck in better.  Wind and cold is ideal!

More birds will be moving, but with all the sheet water they will be spread out.  Access to some spots is a problem right now with all the flooding.  The challenge is getting the birds to lock into your set up as they have a ton of options.  Cross your fingers the water will drop quickly or cold temps move in with reduced rain.

Bad timing with all the rain at the front of the migration!

:yeah: All of the greenheads are sitting on the pond 30yards from the house. Maybe I should try to scratch out a limit with the bow :chuckle:

Just passed my property. It's flooded half way up my corn. There are thousands of birds in the eating. Might have to take tomorrow off! :chuckle:

Hunt it now while there in there thick.  It could change by next week or they will have you cleaned out in short order.
