I'm seeing the different species of ducks transition through.  A local pond I watch is now missing it's local mallards and the buffleheads are gathering.  Out on the huntable ponds the migrating mergies are passing through.

Lots of birds in the Moses Lake area or at least on the private corn ponds!
Cut em!
It's not the shells!  It's the shooter!

Reading the DU Duck Report, birds still have not reached Calgary. Things are going to change quick once the freezing weather hits up north this week and next. I would guess at some point over the next two weeks we will start to see some guys finally putting up big duck numbers on the basin.

I just hunted Potholes area on Saturday. Usually  right around Veterans Day there are some birds showing up. I always roll the dice and go at that time. It didn't payoff this weekend. There were very few ducks but a decent amount of geese. I think the ducks were all locals as overall they were very weary. We did have some action and should have done better, no thanks to my shooting. We finished with 8 ducks and a goose between 3 of us.
Fish hard, hunt harder!
