Youth deer tag notched
« on: November 16, 2015, 02:50:00 PM »
Well the kid did what I have only done once in my 20 years of hunting and that is fill both elk and deer tags.  It was a great hunt up in Spokane and he actually had to work for it which was great.  We spotted the deer at 450 yards and tried to cut the distance.  We made it to the edge and it was 322 yards and there was no getting closer.  He had to belly crawl, he got to watch a spike chase some does around and grunt.  He got to watch two does stand on their back legs and kick each other and pretty much see what we have all seen 100 times but this was his first and he was loving it.
After making it to 322 yards I told him he cannot take it unless he was rock solid.  He got on the sticks and after 5 minutes of trying to get comfortable he said he was not solid enough.  There was an old broke down tractor right next to us and I told him to get set up on it.  After a minute I asked if he was solid and he just looked at me with that big grin.  If you were to walk up to a deer and say this spot is the perfect spot to shoot it, he was 1 inch high.  The kid loves to shoot and he truly is a very good shot.  Nine hours behind the wheel and I would do it again in a second.

Good job guys.
I hope when I die my wife doesn't sell my guns for what I told her I paid for them.
