gun help
« on: January 20, 2009, 07:28:17 PM »
i have a remington .597 and it seems the extractor is missing from the bolt so the gun jams after every shot... i was wondering if there is anyone local that is comfortable working on guns that could help me install the new parts when i order them or if any one can point me towards a reasonably priced gun smith that could install the new parts.

thanks
Eric

Hate to say it...but you would be much better off trading your 597 and getting a 10/22.  I have a buddy that has one and that thing has given him nothing but trouble.  He sent it back to Remington for repairs (jams and stuff) and after about a month and a half he got it back and it still jammed.  I would get rid of it fast and never look back...

it didnt use to jam, my brother and his friend took it upon themselves to use my gun instead of their own and brought it back to me and said they were messing with it and something flew off the gun... my brother and his friends are two of the biggest idiots i know and wont tell me the whole story but i looked it over and found out the piece that is now missing is the little extractor that sits on the end of the bolt and grabs the shell to fling it out. the parts are only like 9 bucks and its a very accurate gun also so why scrap it for a new gun when it would only cost 9 bucks for the new parts
