Leupold Yosemite for kids
« on: November 18, 2015, 10:12:34 AM »
Leupold has a 25.00 rebate on the leupold yosemite and Midway has them on sale.  The 6X are 79.00 with free shipping and a 25.00 back rebate.  They are out of  stock but are  accepting backorders and say they expect them in by Dec. 10th.  Great Christmas present for your son or daughter.   You might even find that you sneak them out and use them once in a while

I'll give a plug for the Yosemites. Keep a pair in my kitchen for checking out the animals in the yard. Great quality for the price.

Oh My God yes.  These Leupold Yosemite are not just a good binocular for the price they are just plain good.  I purchased our first pair (on the advice of the Leupold rep) for my seven year old's third birthday and have a second Mossy Oak Breakup pink pair, brand new in clamshell packaging, sandbagged for my two year-old's third birthday.

I spent about three years focusing the older daughter's and then handing them to her and I can say with absolute confidence that the 6x30 is the best possible binocular that anyone can purchase for a youngster and it would be my first choice for most people who are looking for an all around binocular for a first binocular.

The depth of field is very forgiving, the controls work smoothly and are comfortable, the binocular chassis seems to be plenty durable - despite some reviews claiming that the strap attachment is weak my daughter has had hers for four years now and never a problem.

Here are a few reviews:

http://www.opticsreviewer.com/leupold-yosemite-binoculars.html

There are literally dozens more on the birding sites and I have never seen even a mediocre review for this binocular.  I personally own Leica, Nikon EDG and Swarovski binoculars and am familiar with good optics and although I personally use a Vortex Viper 6x32, I would not hesitate to use this Yosemite 6x30 in it's place if it ever should be lost to me.

They are a great size for me as an adult when I need to carry a compact pair of field glasses. Technically they are my wife's bino's, she is gracious enough to let me borrow them! Build quality is very good, picture is great, especially close to medium range, they are the 6x30. Price is very good on this model also.

I have and use binoculars from seven manufacturers: Leica, Swarovski, Nikon, Canon, Fujinon, Bushnell, and Leupold. I have the 6x30 Yosemites and think they are a great value.

It is easier and less expensive to make a good porro prism binocular than a roof prism.

The 6x30 is "pocket size" in a bellows type pocket that most of our hunting jackets have.  I have absolutely no experience w/either the eight or ten power Yosemite, but this 6x30 is a real Jim Dandy of a binocular.  I believe it is even rated "water proof."  Ours have been in some pretty bad weather and never a problem.

If the binoculars fail Leupold will repair or replace them. If they get lost or trashed you're only out $100.
