Youth moose Mt Spokane south
« on: November 18, 2015, 05:51:06 PM »
My friends kid has the youth tag, hasn't had any luck yet, but having fun trying.  Him and his dad have made 8 trips up and back trying to get er done just haven't seen much. The kid has been super busy with freshman football and know basketball practice, so his time is very limited when he can hunt and his Dad is running out of time and money as well.  Any help or info I can pass along to them would be much appreciated.. Thanks ....

Doesnt that tag cover the Thompson Creek area?  Gotta be moose in there.

Definitely check out Thompson creek. You'll have to buy a pass, but it's well worth it. We hunted Thompson Creek two years ago and saw lots of moose. Be warned, the gate may be closed, so you'll have to walk in or use an ATV. Check out Inland Empire Paper's site.

I passed the info along thanks for sharing. He said they have hunted up in that area some, but are gonna hunt it hard on Sunday and see what happens. He did say a couple of the other youth hunters did tag out up in that area but the " gate" is closed that led into the area where they where taken from. Thanks again for the help...

Still no luck yet, they didn't see any moose last Sunday.  He is down to Sunday as his only day to hunt this weekend and his last day to hunt, due to basketball practice. So hopefully they will have some  success ....

Hope he gets on a moose, can he call in sick to school/BB practice for a few days? I'd hate for the kid to come up empty. Wish I knew a tip to give you guys.
I felt like a one legged cat trying to bury a terd on a frozen pond!

Great tip on the game office, I ran into his mom and passed it on to her.  She also said he is missing no more school, they have already  taken him out 4 days for this hunt, I tried lobbying for more but I think she has put here foot own on this one.  So I guess Sunday it's gonna be the 2 minute drill for them...I hope it works out...

Well he finally saw and got a shot at one..But missed,he was  pretty bummed out about missing it, said he got real shaky when it crossed the road in front of him. He's a good shot for a 14 year old, got a cow elk earlier, he said he just had the fever when it showed up.  They did run into another group with a youth moose tag, who was camped at the "gate" for 12 days and hadn't seen a moose, so he felt good about finally seeing one after making 10 trips up looking for one, he just wished he had a few more days to hunt, but did enjoy all the time he spent with his Dad traveling up and back looking...THANKS AGAIN for all the help you guys gave me to pass along to them to help them on there hunt...
