Not at all....I think you have the jist just fine.  I think I had in my mind net not gross.  I was spending more time staring at the picture instead of the words.  He is a great moose.  Field judging one is indeed a tough deal, then putting tape to one is even harder.  It has to do with parallel  and perpendicular lines, etc. etc.  Shrinkage etc.  Who cares, thats a gorgeous animal.   I hear you on your decision.  Thats what I had elk hunting.  I probably could have done better, but no way was I going to pass that particular animal up.  I hope you have a big house.  them babies take up alot of space.  I'm glad you are going to mount him.  I can't tell you how often I sit and stare at mine and rethink the hunt process.  Awesome job!

I use to hunt the Tacoma Creek area for late whities and almost always ran into swamp donkeys.  Got a couple of decent bucks there as well.

Great trophy.  I bet he looked tremendous walking through the woods.  The mass and bulkiness of him is great. 

On the whole scoring issue...I really don't agree much with the scoring system for moose.  But then, I don't agree with the scoring system on mule deer and most other animals because of deductions and so on.  Honestly, I wouldn't pay B&C to put my name in a book anyway.  If it was free, then maybe.  I think if every trophy was in there it would be a good tool to look at trends in trophies and where they are being taken.  It's just not why I hunt.  I was interested in learning about the scoring system but after scoring my recent moose and looking over trophies and what they score, it seems ridiculous.  Of course I'm now being critical and can't offer any suggestions to make the scoring better.  Maybe this should be a topic in and of its own, on scoring moose and potential suggestions for a better system...

That's one sweet bull.  While it doesn't help the score, I personally prefer the look of boxy, vertical racks like this.  The width of the palms and number of points up top are awesome.  If you're into scores, this guy might be a good candidate for SCI, which takes the gross score and includes tine length.  More bone = better score.  My recollection is that SCI also doubles the length and width of the palms...given the palm width, I think that would also help here.

Interesting.  I've never thought too much about scoring 1 way or the other.  Haven't killed enough big stuff to worry too much   I just use it more as a general frame of reference. 

Isn't the European system based mostly on mass... it's simple discplacement in a water tank?  I think B&C is a little to into symmetry.  There are a lot of critters that I've seen that aren't great scorers (in B&C) that I prefer over ones that score real well. 

I think the bottom line is I like it.... right?
