Cocobolo Hickory Sapphire Hawk
« on: January 23, 2009, 05:17:40 PM »
If you do a search in the gallery for "Sapphire Hawk Bow" it will show all the photos. Great piece of work. Smooth as silk to draw. Easy on the eyes. Can't wait to shoot it.

Cocobolo, Hickory, Black Glass

56 lbs at 28 Inch

Got about 30 mins shooting today and would have had more if my truck didn't break down. This thing shoots arrows like a rocket. It penetrates into the targets quite far and the weight on the handle seems to make accurate shooting much easier. The bow is also very quiet and has no hand shock. Ernie not only makes a nice looking bow but it shoots like a champ. Every school child should have one.

All I can say is WOW!  That's a work of art.  Good to hear that it shoots as well as it looks, too.

It may well be time for me to invest a few bucks and a few hundred hours and learn how to create something like that; I can see some true enjoyment in shooting and hunting sessions with something you made with your own sweat.  I know I much rather enjoy fishing with a flyrod that I custom make than any that I could purchase at any price, so I'm guessing it's roughly the same.
Bring a GPS!  It's awkward to have to eat your buddies!
