A little vent here guys. Don't you love it when you take one of your hunting buddies into a spot that you put all the work into finding and scouting ect. Shoot a few birds there with the guy only to find out that he goes back into that spot later with out even a heads up he was going there? And when he goes In there he takes some of his other friends and they all shoot limits? Finding good hunting buddies is tough! Looks like will be hunting alone for awhile...

It is not good hunting buddies. It is finding guys with character and integrity that is tough.
I hunt with some real stand up guys now in my camps. All of them have good character and honesty. But every once in awhile I have to sit quietly with one and explain that we are a group with common goals not individuals looking out for our selves.

The ethics are just not out there. The sad part is that the guys with good ethics often end up hunting alone. Because they cant find each other.

Finding good areas to hunt is so precious that I find myself even wanting to keep them to myself.

You really have to screen the folks you trust with your best spots.

I grew up hunting with my best friend. We hunted every where together. for years.
Even if he killed his deer first he would be right there with me hunting till the last minute with me. We don't hunt together because he gave it up for medical reasons.

But this past year when I was left in camp by myself the others had tagged out and left he drove to eastern Wa and left me chocolate pie ,and beef steaks in my cooler for my Birthday. And came back later in the week to check on me.

I have some good hunting partners but I will never have another one like him.

I share your pain. Happened to me more than I care to admit to. Darn unfortunate. It's not limited to waterfowl hunting either.

Oh yes, this will chap my a$$ more than just about anything. It is primarily, why I hunt alone these days. It's more work, sometime unsafe, but with a whole lot less headaches.

Definitely a pet peeve of mine. I have even given the speech in advance of hunting and only found out afterwards by a local  friend in the area, that my "friend " was out hunting. If it happens, that person never hunts with me again.

It's weird to cause he was just talking about how one of his buddies did that to him and his ticked off he got from it. I guess the flags should of started flying when we always went to my spots instead of his even though he's got some places close to his home that are normally good. Live and learn I guess. I can't wait for my other buddy to graduate school so we can start hunting together again. That's a guy I can trust.

I'm very secretive about my bottom fishing and hunting spots. If you show the wrong guy it is like a domino affect with more people finding about = not a good spot anymore many times. I've had hunters find  some of my tree stands, know there mine and try to beat me to them while deer hunting. That is just way wrong in my book. Some hunters suck.

I probably wouldn't take anyone to a spot that I didn't want to get found out.  On the flip side, I would absolutely ask what the rules were and if I was welcome to head back some times, all the time or only with the person.

If you ask someone to keep it confidential and they are in there with buddies, that would be one and done.

Had that happen last year. Took a guy hunting 4 or 5 times. Thought I was safe since he didn't have a boat. I text him like usual to go hunt and he tells me he's taking a friend with a boat out to where we usually hunt (not my best spot luckily). Pissed me off. I texted him later to ask how it was and found out they never left the launch as his friends boat wouldn't start. Karma!!!
Edit: he's hasn't been invited or hunted since!

Sometimes karma works for you.

I took a guy out as a favor and he took his buddies out a week later to the same spot and ended up sitting out there two tide changes until he had enough water to float his boat(it floated up over the high ground at high tide and he didn't notice it),.  He's never spoken to me since then and I'm not hurt.

I usually hunt alone, this season I have a waterfowl partner, the first in a long time.   He's been around the block a couple times too, we have 115 years of duck hunting experience between us.

Sadly, this is not a new trend, it's been happening for years.
A-holes have been around since the dawn of man and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I know of a similar instance this year during archery elk and that thought did not sit well with the members of our camp.

Maybe we should put together a common sense book for together for hunters so they can know the common ethics when it comes to hunting.  Could be the idiots guide to hunting with others.

So you told him that it wasn't okay to take a bunch of people to your spot right? Before and after? No way i'd let anyone live that one down. Too many entitled people that have no couth.
