Hi guys.  Sorry, I've been out looking for them and posting reward signs.  Annie was found last night about 3.5 miles from home.  She was picked up by a nice lady that got the message from someone else about where she belonged.  She is okay, very weak and chilled.

Hoot is still missing.  Hopefully he found a warm enough place to stay alive.  I will be taking Annie out that way to look for him this afternoon.  Praying the poor little guy is still alive.

Good luck Jonathon. I hope this has a happy ending. I can't even imagine how awful it must feel.

Thank you.  It's tough knowing that my little buddy is still out there probably.  Hopefully somebody else picked him up.

Beagles are tougher than you think. I had a few when I lived back east in upstate NY. They slept outside in their dog house when it was 10 below. Maybe they chased a deer but they usually can find there way home on their own. Don't give up on him.

Best of luck on your search this afternoon.  I have a good feeling that old Hoot is OK.  I betcha he's wandered into somebody's place and has been fed... I 'm hoping you get a call today ;).  I just think this one is gonna turn out OK and Annie will have her buddy at your place very soon.  Beagles are nice dogs and I think someone will (or has) seen the male and will do the right thing.

Thanks for the words of encouragement Bob and RJ.  I know they are tougher than I think of them.  I can never ask for anything again if Hoot is found.  What's concerning me is what might have caused them to separate...they are very tight knit.  I don't think that something chased them and kill one of them because Annie isn't anywhere near as fast as Hoot.  I think he'd be the one to get away in that situation.

Tons of situational variations that could have separated them.  I know that most folks are good at heart and will stop if they see a wandering pup and lend a helping hand.  Just a couple of days ago, my wife and I were heading into town and saw a mini pincher (spelling?) wandering at the end of a long country driveway without a collar.  We drove down the driveway and eventually saw the owner calling for the dog.  If we hadn't had seen that, Kim was ready to load the pup up and start looking for his owner  ;).  Again, good luck on your afternoon search.

We are canvassing the area he might be in, it's a big area since he's been gone so long.  Hopefully he's not moving fast, I doubt he is.

I will keep you guys updated as I can, thanks for your kind words.

I don't know about the legality of this (folks do it around where I live) but perhaps placing a flyer in some mail boxes with a pic of Hoot and some brief text "have you seen me, please call my owner at XXX-XXXX)?

 I'm doing something to that effect.  Putting flyers in actual mailboxes is against the law but I am not exactly out to follow every rule right now.

Good luck, bud. Hope it ends up well for everyone.
Keep at it.
