Those pesky island blacktail are great at hiding.

I too am not great at butchering. I get 3 types of cuts: steak, back strap and burger  8).

good job!  I remember reading some of your posts when you first joined and glad you stuck with it and accomplishing the 1st of many goals in your hunting lifestyle.
Romans 14:2 he who eats only vegetables is weak
Genesis 27:3 Now then, get your equipment—your quiver and bow—and go out to the open country to hunt some wild game for me

I loved reading your story.  The only thing I might revise is that you did not spend enough time emphasizing the density and height and impossibility of the salal bushes we moved through.  I've waded through my share of salal, but that was about the densest/tallest/most impossible ever.  Trying to track blood all the while...   :chuckle:

I'm so glad everything worked out...great fun to have you here!  And fun to hunt with another woman too!  :hello:

:chuckle:  I should've given more time to describing the impossible to move through salal!  That was pretty tough to walk in, let alone track blood.  I'll make sure the next time I tell the story I emphasize that more!

Thanks again for having me!

Congratulations on your deer harvest and experience.  I'm quite sure your hunt put things in good perspective of how really easy it isn't.

What a great story. I'm sure you'll remember and relive the experience many times. I still vividly remember my first deer hunt; it's been many years ago now.

Congratulations, and a tip of the hat to Ed and Kelli for their parts.
