Well, had three nice birds by 7:30 (Mallard and two Wigeon), first shot of the season was a hit

and missed a couple more. Had a flock of about two dozen Common Mergs swim through my decoys at six yards (blurry picture, dark one on left is a decoy). This sure put Amber's control to the test.

Decided not to shoot as a small flock of Goldeneye was making its way toward me as well. At twenty eight yards, I missed them all.

A bit later, four hen Mergs popped up in front of me and I managed to knock down three. The rest of the morning, I saw some birds but couldn't get any to work. Had to move up the beach as my dry blind by the post and rock got a bit damp. All of the wood floated off before I left.
