My work partner has 5 acre plot up Crystal Peak road outside of Fernwood . We are considering hunting it for deer and elk is any one familiar with the area.
  Thanks Scott

not sure he has a plot map but seems to think it's mostly private where his property is. But it can't be to far from public hunting.

We hunt mostly around the Santa area, but have found new area around Fernwood and Clarkia. most of the timber lands over there are either State, National Forest, or potlatch timber. All can be hunted, most main lines are open. The side roads are gated but if you have a quad you can legally ride around the gate and go for miles. I've never hunted the area that you are talking about, so I don't know much about the game in that area. I did meet a fellow in Clarkia while having breakfast one morning who worked for a logging company doing road maint. He seemed to speak highly of that area tho.
