I thought you all might enjoy these pics of a bull I found this winter in the Pomeroy, WA area. Does he look familiar to anyone? Any guesses on a score? He is an 8X8 with an extra 5" kicker on his left... 8X9. Anyone know somebody who might be able to draw this tag soon?

Mid 370. Nice bull short tined. Looks like a young bull with great potential!

Actually that bull looks like the one Bowsandhose killed this year with out the huge mass. His bull went 378.

Not sure, I was hunting with Bluebulls and he told me of a big 8x8. I never saw it, all I saw was little 7x7's in the 360+ range, so I passed on them.

Who cares what he would score. He would get my shaft no questions asked. I have twelve points but I can't pull myself away from the westside especially because I have Elk in my yard and some good bulls right here. One of the property owners got a 355 gross bull in 2007 just a mile and a half from my propety. I think my points will have to stay over here unless I draw multi-season again.

That is one nice bull that's for sure.

when you say the pomeroy area...do you mean he is in pomeroy or he is in the blues?

it takes a lot of points to draw those units. 12+
BC has a great opportunity with 13 points.

always more than you have. You could draw it with 1 point. The draw is completely random. your points are just multiplied by themself to give you a better chance. There is no guarantee in this sucky state.

I don't want to get too specific about where he is at. I haven't seen anyone else glassing him (yet!) If someone draws the tag and wants to contact me, I'll talk to them about it. I don't hunt Washington, so you're not competing with me.

No Clint, different bull. there's a good chance that this bull can't be hunted even with a permit. that is if he lives in a certain portion of the Tucannon unit. Although there are some beer drinking road hunters up there with rifles that may plug him and take the rack only. Nice bull, he might be pretty special in a year or two.

remember guys this WASHINGTON AND 1 POINT IS THE SAME AS 13 THIS STATE SUCKS A$$ ANYONE CAN DRAW, UNTIL THEY DO WHAT OTHER STATES DO WITH POINTS. YOU ARE SCREWED. 75% FOR PEOPLE WITH 5 POINTS AND UP AND 25% for others weed them out and you have a chance.

Here are the measurements I came up with looking at the pics, These are rounded up or down, some are a little longer some are shorter but should even out . I do think his mains are longer than I put and the seconds may be a tough shorter.

Total= 375 gross and no I did not make the measurements add up to that.

Read down through my post after my enitial guess, I said 291 gross, thats what less than 13 off, right below I said the pics can be decieving and a few posts down I said it will be closer to 282, thats gross BTW, I dont guess net very offten unless asked

So how much did I over guess on a picture I called out ??

Hey BuckLucky A good elk hunter can make a acurate call on the first look not the third. Its not a trick photo at all its a straight up pic use the muzzle loader as a guide to length of main beem.

So what your saying is I need to 'Guess " the length of the Muzzle Loader to make a guestimation on the rack? I guess you have a buddy run up next to a bull in the woods holding the ML up next to the rack to get an estimate before you shoot? :chuckle :Like I said enitially, 291 gross, that was my first thought, I could have erased it , but instead I backed up my overestimate up whith what I said right after and gave an honest opinion on "trick" photos. I like to give the benefit of the doubt when looking at a bull someone has killed. 282 wasnt too far off for what I thought it would really end up going. Oh by the way, a good elk hunter would have passed on that little bull

hahahahaha your right i would have passed on that one if i was in an area that held good elk. That was the biggest bull on our ranch that year so i was happy to take him. Lets see a pic of your biggest bull?

That is a good bull anyway, not alot of people get the chanse to kill one like yours! Here is my Biggest bull. #7 in Washington for Archery

That bull meets my minimum criteria

... and I put in for that tag. I'll let you know if I get drawn, but I only have 7 points this year, so my chances aren't that great. Don't forget that "short tined" bull will grow a new set this year, so he should be 380 plus, depending on nutrition, drought conditions etc...
I hope someone gets him, since he will likely be dead of old age before I get drawn..

Im guessing that bull is outside the elk fence. He is standing next to a grain trailer so im pretty sure where thats at. I think I might even recognize the trailer.
