Night time hunting
« on: December 03, 2015, 07:31:39 PM »
I saw the regs said not to shoot in oct or nov in areas for modern deer season but are there any other restrictions in the moses lake potholes area for night time hunting?

Thanks,
Nick

I think it's the months of October and November. I don't know of any other restrictions.

Right, October November, not December. Any one have any tips? I just got an Orion scope mounted light with a red filter and want to go try it out perhaps maybe tonight or later this weekend.

Call fish and game and the sheriffs office and tell them where you will be hunting , If they come out because of a phone call they will NOT be as cordial as they are IF you make a courtesy call . Other then that you should be good to go, Make darn sure you know the area and backdrop of your bullet, Flinging lead into the dark without knowing where it is going? Not such a great idea, But im sure you have thought of that . Only reason i mentioned it is i have been on the receiving end of such a projectile  during warden coyote derby, I was not happy .

If you are legal, why worry about contacting them?

I'm assuming he said this so you don't have to have people swarm you with their guns drawn because they don't know what you are doing?

Simply a good habit to inform the sheriff and FandW that way if they get a call they already know whats up and dont have to worry about a threat or poaching.
If you were them wouldnt you rather know whats going on if called then think  its as a threat when responding.
They are busy with real problems why become one of them.
If your doing everything legal why NOT call them to give them a heads up ?
