New Waders?
« on: December 04, 2015, 10:43:34 PM »
The zipper has been busted on my waders for the last couple of years, but they have still worked alright for my hunting.  Yesterday, I went out and now have a leaky boot and a seep in the crotch.   :(

So, new waders are in order.

I definitely can't afford, or justify $300 waders.  I might be able to go $200, and I have some Cabelas bucks to use.

How do I use waders?  I pretty much only duck hunt with them, I don't do any warm weather fly fishing or anything like that.  I need waders with boots, insulated are good, but they probably don't have to be ultra-insulated.

I've always had neoprene, 5mm, usually, but would not eliminate breathables.  They seem to be usually out of my price range though.

Does anyone have any suggestions?  Durable waders you've been happy with? It would be nice to have something last more than three or four duck seasons.

Thanks

I never got more than three years out of my neoprene waders.  Ive been restricted to the same price range as you.  So I bought breathable waders, cabelas brand.  I've never been warmer, dryer, or happier.  With that said this is my second season on them.  We'll see if they're worth it...

Highly suggest Cabelas supermag 1600s. I was turned off by the large insulation but after wearing my brothers I had to have a pair. They aren't overly warm at all.  I'm still on the same pair after wearing them on countless saltwater hunts which seems to be particularly hard on the waders.
They have this armor flex on them that is really tough, padded knees to provide extra material so you don't wear through.
