Late Archery Fun
« on: December 07, 2015, 09:41:48 AM »
Took my girlfriend out this weekend and had a great time. The stormy weather really had the blackies out and about. Saw two spikes and a 2 point between Fri-Sun. Also on Saturday we were driving down one of the mainlines and had a big cougar run across the road and up a rock face. Pretty Cool! Girlfriend took a shot at a spike on Friday but nicked a branch. She got her first deer last year which was a doe and she's determined to get her first buck this year. How's everyone else doing this archery season? Also got her an elk tag this year but haven't had much luck with the elk. Would love to hear from other archers on this late season so far!

I'm hunting late archery in Snohomish County.  I saw some does this past weekend, but no bucks out and about.  I hope to get out this coming weekend.  What county are you hunting in?  Are you on timber land, hunting clearcuts?

We go out in Thurston County. We had no luck in clearcuts. It was all in the thick stuff. Every road we seemed to hike down would have deer feeding on the edge of the road. Problem is they would just take one step into the brush and vanish. Not a whole lot of spot and stock chances. We will be back in this weekend as well.

Thanks.  Most of the area I am hunting is clearcuts of various ages.  I'll have to spend some time walking through the timber on the old trails and roads.  I did see a small 2 pt. a few weeks ago doing this.  It was one of the frosty mornings when it was hard to walk quietly, so I focused on the cuts since then.
Good luck!
