Eotech vs Vortex holographic sights. Opinions and experiences pls.  Vortex is affordable compared to the Eotech setup but is there any real difference?

I am sending my Eotech back to them today for a refund.  I had an Eotech exps2-2.  It would not come on correctly and wouldn't shut off correctly.  Also the sight began to starburst to a greater degree, at least that's what it looked to me.

I am going to an aimpoint.

Did you look at the Burris? I have their FastFire II on a mini-14. Low profile scope, US made. I also looked at the Vortex when I was shopping, liked them very much. Burris fit my mount better.

I have used several Aimpoint M68 holo sights. IMHO they are garbage, I hate them, So much so that I take mine off my issued weapon. I LOVE my EOTECHS. I have never used the vortex model but I would be interested in it. I ran Eotechs on M249 and M240B Machine guns in Iraq and they functioned flawlessly.

^ I've put an EOTech through some abuse as well and have yet to have a problem. IDK why I heard of so many complaints about their durability when I've smacked mine around as much as I have. Aimpoints are said to be more durable, but the optic onthe one I tried out isn't anywhere near as bright as the EOTech.

I've never looked through a Vortex optic that has impressed me. My recommendation: PASS.
