Congrats.

Not trying to be an internet cop but I think I would cut a little bigger notch in my tag so there is no debate on what your kill date was, I think technically the date and month are supposed to be completely removed according to page 88 of the regs.
Pain is temporary, achieving the goal is worth it.

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it.

A gung-ho warden would already have the ticket written.

Congrats on a nice shot, Shooterbull!

Was that heart out wandering around all by itself?  Great shot! Did you get a shot at the liver before it ran off?

 :yeah:

That is definitely a good thing to point out to somebody.  That is a violation no matter how minor and letting somebody know will keep them from getting a possible ticket in the future.

Hey fellas, I did finish cutting out the rest of the tag month and date after the pic, my buddy had just walked up to take a pic of that heart as I was notching that tag.  I appreciate the feedback though, it's a good reminder for those who may read this.

Good deal, I wasn't trying to be a jerk.  I teach hunter safety and the game wardens say that is the number one violation that they see, improperly notched tags.  In the photo I think your intent was obvious and they would have used the interaction as a tool to educate, if there were other issues they may have used that to just pile on infractions.

Didn't mean to highjack your success thread but wanted to let you know.

So back to the thread do you have any more of a story about the hunt?

Glad you got it done with so little time left in the season, sounds like you got your money's worth out of your license this year unless something prevented you from hunting sooner.

Thanks for posting and again I wasn't trying to be a jerk.

Heart makes some of the best sandwich meat. Boil it for a while with whatever spices you desire but add a couple of bay leaves to the water too. You will be amazed at how good it is when sliced thin and put on a sandwich.

If you don't do that, just dice it up and throw it in with the burger meat. The heart should never be wasted if it is salvageable.
Glad to see it's not still in the gut pile.  :hello:
