M&P Shield or Glock 43?

Wow there are a lot of guys asking this question.


I carry a LCP everyday as my back up gun. It is good for what it is a last chance close range firearm.

My regular carry is a SW 9VE , 16 +1 for around 300.00

Also take a look at SCCY  (sky) Arms , 250.00 9 mm Life time warrenty. Even it stolen.

The 9ve is just like a Glock only cheaper and better looking. I have 500 rounds through mine with no problems.

XDS little more safety with beaver tail, heavier that rest of guns = easier to control muzzle blast. Still able to shoot when press against subject, smith or glock can't do it.

If I'm close enough to have to worry about pressing my handgun against a threat, I'm going to opt for my knife before the handgun.

Unless we are taking bear and such?

I'm a big glock fan. I own the shield, planned to purchase the glock prior to shooting it. After shooting it with 4 others which included the glock owner. The shield shot better for everyone. Both are good carry size but that's been my experience.

I have had many people say the exact same thing as above.  Ilwith that said....you should shoot them both and find out which one fits you best.  I would lean toward the shield.

Bottom line. Everyone's hands are different, there are so many aspects just physically of why a particular handgun grips, points and shoots well for some and not so well for others.

It's been posted many, many, M-A-N-Y times. One needs to hold each handgun or better yet shoot each handgun if possible and make a decision based on down range performance. If you can't shoot it well. what good is having it?

There are plenty of members willing to meet at a gun club/ range or such for this. One just needs to ask.

Sig p320 Sub Compact.......that thing is a sweet shooter.  Try it, you'll like it.

The Shield..Out to 60 ft.  very accurate.  very concealable..Also a very light trigger pull right out of the box..

I just picked up a Gen4 17 last week and while I was filling the paper work we had a conversation about these exact two guns and my dealer is definitely a Glock guy.  He had both in the show case right under where I was filling out my paperwork so I asked him which he thought was better.  He told me there were little things he liked about one versus the other and vice versa but as far as one being any better than the other, he couldn't honestly pick one over the other because they both were good.  He said if you're a Glock guy and you are buying new, buy the 43 but if you already owned a M&P Shield there wasn't enough difference to make him suggest switching.  I handled both for a couple seconds just out of curiosity and they seemed very similar to me.

Also, he had a Glock 42 sitting there that I fondled and though it's really not that much smaller than the 43, it is definitely noticeably smaller and IMO it would have been nice if they could have made the 42 a 9mm as well as .380 because the 42, at least for me, felt like it'd be about the perfect, small, CCW.  Some of these little semis just feel to small to me but the 42 seemed about perfect, IMO.
