Use deer and elk carcasses- they're free.

Is it legal to relocate road kill to an alternate site?
it is legal to pick it up for disposal. I'd call that disposal lol
https://www.howlforwildlife.org/take_action  It takes 10 seconds and it’s free. To easy to make an excuse not to make your voice heard!!!!!!

The commission shall attempt to maximize the public recreational game fishing and hunting opportunities of all citizens, including juvenile, disabled, and senior citizens.

Does that require something special? Sort of like an Exempt Plate? I guess I could use a lab coat with WSU in sharpie on the back

If it was WSU it would be a Pick-up and Some type of Camo window decal
If it was UW  it would be a Prius with a coexist bumper sticker.

Not exactly accurate.  Can be if it is found dead on or along side your property, then to be completely in compliance, WDFW must be also be notified.

If just along side the road in general, but not adjacent to your property, an individual can not take it legally, it is the county or state road departments responsibility to remove.
It is better to be consistently incorrect than inconsistently correct...

All, sorry I have not responded. I have not figured out on this site how to set up email notifications.

Anyway, I have an older electric caller that a family friend gave me. I do not remember the brand, but it uses cassette tapes and a wired speaker. I have about 30 different cassettes it came with and have been using the hurting jack and kitten in distress calls. So far I have not had luck with it. I set the call up about 50 yards from me, then I hide next to some implements that are in the field. The first two times I tried I could not hear any coyotes. This morning I tried out by our corral where I could hear them yipping a few draws over. I am able to hide pretty good, but maybe not good enough. I let the call run for quite some time, but I never heard them yipping after this. It is almost like the call is running the dogs off. I flipped the tape over to get another good run of calling and walked down the fence line towards an alfalfa field, trying to walk around, not towards, the yipping I heard earlier. I did this just because I figured if they were still around the call should have brought them in. Of course I did not see anything, so I went back and gathered my caller and went home.

I am at a loss. I have the next two weeks to play with these dogs, so I would like to know what I am doing wrong. I am not really in a place to have others out on the property as it is my in-laws. We have had bad things in the past happen when allowing people out here, like theft and killing of our livestock.

Am I not letting the call run long enough, maybe volume is too low? I have it at about 3/4. Do I need to do a different call? I am using the hurting jack as it just snowed and I thought the sou d of a hurt animal would draw them in for an easy meal.

I'm in the same boat as far as trying to figure out the ecaller. As far as the disrespect of other hunters I've actually heard this from quite a few people when asking for permission. Its sad that stupid people ruin it for the rest of us. Good luck with your coyote problem.

IMO the sounds don't really matter much. Don't keep using the same sounds from the same spot. Setup is the most important part.

Hard to say what your doing wrong if anything, If you cant allow another exp. caller to help you out your only other way to learn is to hire a guide and pay to learn, Or keep doing what your doing till you figure it out.

I will eventually get to the point where I can bring people out again, but for the time being I guess I will have to keep trying to see what I am doing wrong. I do appreciate the help I am getting here though.
