Neighbors dogs

So some of my traps are set on our property and the neighbors dogs who roam all over the county have been piss in all over my traps and have pulled em over and drug then around...we had problems last year with them and they neighbor said he pretty much won't do anything about it...is there anything you can do? Is the owner responsible for damage to my traps? I have tons of pics of the dogs on my trail cam

People are responsible for their dogs' damage to the property of others. Set out some cams and catch them in the act. Call animal control and have them picked up. Take them to small claims court once you have the evidence. Not a whole lot else you can do short of the salmon bait idea, poisoning, or shooting them. That could create a whole new set of neighbor problems.

On a completely unrelated note, damage to crops during the winter from ice snails can be devastating. Liberal use of snail bait can help prevent such damage.

Contact the sheriff. Other than that, Bone's suggestion is probably the most prudent one.

A call to wdfw took care of my neighbor dog problem.  It was running deer on my place all the time.  I think since your problem dog is messing up traps it would also be something a game warden would handle for you

Anybody that is thinking about poison or a conibear or any other kind of trap that might hurt the dogs is asking for trouble. Please do not do anything to the dogs. It will only reflect badly on trapping and end up hurting everyone.
The best thing to do is call the authorities., Sheriff or WDFW and see if they can do anything. Seems like you have some pretty good evidence if you have them on cams.
I do know one trapper that had problems like this and they set a large cage on their property. When they caught the dog they called animal control and the owner had to pay to get their dog back. The problem ceased.
Please try to remember especially when it involves dogs people can go crazy and raise a stink. No matter how much you are in the right trappers seem to always end up painted as the bad guy. We do not need bad publicity!

I do not agree with poison at all. On the farm dogs that chase cattle or kill chickens get shot. I would expect my neighbors to do the same with my dogs. If I found out one of them poisoned my dog I would loose my mind and we would have a very big problem on our hands. It just seems cowardly thing to do in my opinion. If it's a problem and you told the owner and they still come back shoot the dog and take it to the owner.

Shooting a dog and taking it to the owner would cause some owners to loose their minds, some would shoot you back, and some would call police, and some would be understanding like yourself.  No one knows how a dog owner will react....sometimes not even the dog owner knows how they'll react

I would handle this as a landowner situation and not as a trapper.  Not sure how animal control is in Wenatchee but that might be the avenue to pursue and not even mention trapping as being the problem, the problem is dogs at large.

On this forum search   "caught this fella in the front yard".  It worked for me. The other thing that helped was stringing a hot wire across the area they were entering. It was about 18" off the ground and before I plugged it in, I smeared peanut butter and bacon grease on it. I still don't understand how anybody can just let their dogs roam the neighborhood.

remember this isn't the animals fault and animal cruelty is a felony to some levels that can and most likely would result in some long term penalties....

I don't see anything in Bone's post that could be construed as animal cruelty.
