If I see 2 bucks both equal shot opportunity, one has double the gross score than the other, but the "smaller" one has double the mass... My choice would be for the heavy mass to hit the ground.

I agree success is measured by the hunt and memories made. Clint was an awesome guy to hunt with. He was also given some assistance from a couple guys on this site that really know the area, and are awesome guys to hang out with. We had a fun night of poker at Shads house, then had some fun days in the mountains.  It wasn't as easy as I'm sure everyone expects it to be. We saw between 5-600 deer in one weekend and of those there were probably only two bucks seen over 160". We did have some resistance with fog and heavy downfall of snow. But the point I'm making is that even with well know mule deer fanatics that know the area and the animals, it's still not easy to kill a giant in this state.

I would bet you have better odds of getting a 180" buck on a mid level tag in Colorado than you do with a statewide tag in Washington.

Don't get me wrong, I would love this tag. And I would take the incentive tag over a mediocre tag in any other state. Just because it's my home state, and I would love to hunt the great migration that happens here. Also, I love the thick, dark chocolate antlers that our bucks have. I think they are beautiful candidates for shoulder mounts.

What a great looking buck! Obviously a heavy mature mule deer! I am glad to hear that a once in a lifetime opportunity turned out to be a great expirience! Congrats to the hunter
