lol If you want to read a good book buy Pinnell and Talifson: Last of the Great Brown Bear Men by Marvin Clark. Lots of really neat old pics of huge bears.

These guys were the real deal. They would walk half way across the island packing bear hides and camp on their backs wearing rubber boots.

My uncle Bruce moved to Kodiak in the late 60's to live the great Alaskan adventure.  He trapped, fished, and guided for deer and bear.  Some of the stories he has are pretty wild!  Love the old black and white pics!
It is foolish and wrong to mourn these men.  Rather, we should thank god that such men lived.  -General George S. Patton

Here's a good book, can't put it down once you start it. Warning, this book will give you nightmares.

Isn't that the book you are supposed give to your buddy right before your Alaska trip so you can get some good rest?  They are sure to be on full bear alert every night and you can sleep soundly knowing they will be awake and on guard.  :chuckle:  I think that's the one  :chuckle:
May that for which I prepare never come to pass.

 :yeah:

A common thread running through a lot of those stories seems to be:

"The last thing I remember before blacking out was the sound of the bear's teeth grinding across my skull"

That is a great read but save it for when you get home and not when you are sleeping in a tent in Alaska's wilderness lol
