Steelhead mounts
« on: December 24, 2015, 12:11:19 AM »
Just wondering if anyone knows of a reputable taxi who does steelhead mounts in my area within 60 miles or so? I'm looking to hopefully mount a future steelhead from this upcoming winter run. Thanks for the help.

When it comes to fish taxidermy. Dave Campbell at great northwest fish is simply the best!

Another option is to take good detailed pics of your fish, get the measurements and let it go. Then give those specifics to Blackwater http://www.blackwaterfishreplicas.com/site/home.html and they will make you a fiberglass reproduction, they do fantastic work as well, and you won't need to drive 60 miles to drop it off.

Dumb question, in the gallery all of the fish have the (adepose? fin) whatever the one that is normally clipped still attached on the skin mounts, do they add that for a more realistic look or is there somewhere in the PNW you can keep un clipped steelhead I AM NOT PLAYING INTERNET POLICE!!! I AM MERELY CURIOUS! follow the link and look in that guys gallery the guys work is GORGEOUS what an amazing artist!

Yeah, there's I think 9 rivers you can still keep 1 unclipped a year.  It ends Jul 1, 2016, though.  Bunch of guys going to be hitting the river this year to finally get their 30 pounder.

I have two mid twenty steelhead replicas on my wall, both done by Dave that are outstanding.

Yeah I was checking out his Gallery as well and WOW beautiful work! I would love to get a 20 lber but realistically its probably going to be more like 10-12 being that the river I fish is hatchery only. I just want a chrome steelhead on my wall no matter the size. He'd probably laugh at me when I come walking in with a 10 lber  :chuckle:

This is the one I'd love to get a reproduction of. 18 lb buck 38.5 inches long.  This thing put up the fight of a lifetime and gave a great memory. Wonder how much this would cost.

Duckmen1, I just talked to Dave Campbell and he said a rough price estimate is 35$ per inch. So your probably looking at 13-1400 bucks. Awsome steelhead though, what did it weigh?
