No, 2k does not guarantee limits.  Location, crops, blinds and how it's managed help determine how successful a club is if you are in a good flyway.

I'm a part of a club that runs 2300 a year. It doesn't guarantee anything, other then a place to hunt, and a warm dry place to change. We plant corn and millet for the ducks. I can usually shoot a limit (90% mallards). We have had days where we shot 7-8 limits a couple times in 45 min. Clubs are not for everyone. I used to hate the idea but I'm really starting to like it.

Nice thing is you can leave your gear, decoys, etc and arrive 45-1 hour before legal shooting and your ready to roll!  12, 1, 2, 3am arrivals aren't required.

As mentioned that fee gets you a spot in the blind!

 I can be from bed to blind in about 20-30 minutes. Shells and food in, ducks and trash out. Limits aren't guaranteed. Hoping to get my dream house built there this year. Get my preliminary house plans tomorrow! Finally!!!!

Nice thing is you can leave your gear, decoys, etc and arrive 45-1 hour before legal shooting and your ready to roll!  12, 1, 2, 3am arrivals aren't required.

As mentioned that fee gets you a spot in the blind!

Ok not trying to thread jack, but is it legal for clubs to leave their decoys out, in the salt, all year long?  I pick up at least 18-25 deeks that have floated away from the club blinds close to where I hunt.

To me it's the same as littering/leaving beer cans and spent shells in the field.

Yes, they own the tidal flats.  It's private property.  That's why they run those off that try coming in and anchoring up.  Once anchored they can call the sheriff or game warden and cite them for trespassing.

Not necessarily. There are some tricky spots up there in the bays. Shellfish rights extend beyond the mean low in certain areas. Every property can be different.

Good info. Still a ton of grey area depending on location and tides. I think it would be pretty difficult to make a trespassing ticket stick. IMO

A trespassing ticket is next to impossible to have stick.  I used to own some tidelands on Whidbey Island – my title was to the mean low, which is subjective in itself.  Regardless, almost every day in the summer I had trespassers.   206’s off the ferry thought it was a great place to have a picnic.  Sheriff response time if I called was anywhere from several hours to never.

The second or third time it won't be hard to stick. I dunno about ya'll but I hunt an area more than once for the most part.

I only hunt the club in the early season. Once the bird numbers spike I start guiding. Last year I hunted the club 20? Times probably shot 80-100 birds. This year I probably hunted it 10 days for 40-50 birds. Other members hunt it more then I do. I haven't been to the club in probably over a month now.


At our club you can hunt two different properties 5 days a week. You could hunt it almost every day all season.
