2016 Chevy Colorado/ GMC Canyon w/diesel motor
« on: December 30, 2015, 02:07:27 PM »
Just curious if anyone is buying one of these trucks with the new diesel motor.

Rated at 22/31 mpg for 2 wheel drive and 20/29 for 4 wheel drive.

Engine is a 4 cylinder turbo with 181 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque.

I'm waiting to check out the New Nissan Titan with the Cummins in it.  Curious to see how well it's put together based on Nissan's reputation.

Sounds very very cool. I also agree with the article wanting a manual transmission option. I just cant see spending that much on a pickup of any size.

Sounds interesting. I would love to buy a used one in a few years for a commuter rig.

Anyone know, is this a Motori, now Fiat, based diesel engine??

I know, at least at one time, GM had some amount of ownership or deal with Motori/Fiat for their diesels.

I would have a hard time buying any new diesel trucks. The new emissions crap makes lots of extra sensors that keep rigs in the shop... Ill be watching closely so that in 3 years I can buy a used one and put an emissions delete kit in it.

Why 3 years? What happens then?

All the problems with emissions stuff is sort of a thing of the past. EGR coolers on 6.0L I guess but even us replacing them is a lot more rare than it was a couple years ago. They've got things a lot more ironed out now. Back in '08-'10 there were huge issues no doubt.

Our emission program will most likely be gone in 2020 but they may Manot a in a program for diesels . They are leaning towards the ports and big ships.

RAYONG, THAILAND appears to be the manufacturing site and engines are shared in Isuzu's in the global market.

GM owns rights to codeveloped ecodiesel with fiat used in jeep and dodge 1/2 tons. I love it - 25-27 mpg and tows 8600 lb no problem.  420 ft lbs makes a nice ecodiesel.

I guess I say 3 years may need to be a few more so the rig is no longer under warranties.
