poor man's setup recommendations: boat, bow, accessories

Planning diving into (budget) bow fishing in the spring here in W WA...What are your thoughts on:

Boat: Canoe with pvc/or crab pot buoy outrigger to stabilize standing. Start with a partner to paddle but later upgrade to trolling motor. could probably find an old canoe for $500 and outrigger materials for $100

bow: The problem here is I've got a shoulder issue so debating on whether I should use a #50 compound boat because it would offer letoff or stick with a recurve because you typically don't draw for extended periods of time? I don't know much about bows but I've shot compounds a handful of times. thinking $100 for an old used compound or recurve

any other thoughts on easy ways to keep costs to a minimum? take the public bus to green lake? are dead carp allowed on metro? haha

Nothing faster for follow up shots and it's a lot safer regarding kickbacks.  Cheap out on anything/everything else but buy the Retriever reel and Safety slides!

thanks for the safety reminder. reminds me how important that stuff is when I remember in one day of ripping off metal siding on a house I had a nail go through the sole of my shoe (missed my foot by half inch and had a piece of my coworker's siding whip down off the house and land on my lip. fortunately it somehow missed my teeth and eyes and only left a little scar...
