Riffe lake or any other lake?
« on: December 30, 2015, 09:00:24 PM »
Going to get out of the house this weekend.  We have never tried riffe lake,  I'm going to try and call the power company phone number tomorrow but does anyone know what launches are open?

Also, how is the fishing this time of year? Anyone fished it lately?  What worked or didn't work?

A friend of mine tried to fish it today, he said it was muddy and full of logs down by the dam.

Launches were plugged with debris last week. Somebody must have got in though. Riffe is mud with lots of debris. we are going to be busy cleaning the lake this year! :'(

Those don't sound like good reports.... What about the lake next door, scanewa?

Or is there any  other lakes within two hours of naches with reasonable opportunities to get out on the boat?

Talked to our fish truck driver yesterday. He said Scanewa looks good. Don't know how the fishing is. But the water clarity is good. And it doesn't usually get the wind that riffe does.

According to the park recordings taidnapam and mossy rock launches will both be open so we are heading that way tomorrow.  If riffe looks bad maybe we'll try scanewa.

Skip either one of those and get on Mayfield, it is still putting out some nice trout. Check the regs thpugh because I think it closed for everything but trout.
There is no greater respect to have for wildlife than to harvest an animal fairly and use it's flesh to feed your family.  ~me

My dad was at mayfield a few days ago and he said it too was chocolate milk not even worth fishing.

Well today was a bust... Taidnapam was to muddy and icy to put in there and the west end was really really choppy.  We went to scanewa.  The water was clear and the wind wasn't bad.  We didn't mark a single fish, didn't see any jump, and no bites...  It was nice to get the boat out but not what we were hoping for.

Scanewa can be great for coho and springers. But don't know if gets any trout planted. Coho wasnt good this year because of lousy Cowlitz returns. But it can be lights out a lot of years. Glad you at least got to get out and give it a try!

We took a drive today just to check it out. I got some vacation days to take next week and would love to hit the land lock silvers in theregards but I saw the same thing, no go  :bash:

Mayfield didn't look to bad and seen two boats at the launch, just sitting at the dock  :dunno:

Oh well, it was a nice drive any ways......

I was up at Taidnapam park for work today. The east end of Riffe lake looks really good. The north launch up there is open. I just don't know if its as good fishing up there this time of year as it is down by the dam.
