gps reccomendations

I am going to get a gps in a few months. I think I've got in narrowed down the Garmin Oregon. I cant decide between the 450 and the 650. I looked at the Montana but think the screen is pretty big and like to get the smaller screen. any one have any info that could help me out in this decision? thanks

I have the 450 with onxmap chip works great and easy to use.you can customize some of the screens so you have the info you want on the same screen

I have the 450 but wish I had the 650.  Used to larger screens of the newer phones.  I may never buy another gps with all the iphone gps apps but if I did it would be the 650.

I see you say Oregon but I would go with a Rino. If you ever hunt with other people that have them you can see their location. It's awesome when you get the bull down texts and they don't need to come out the woods for you to find them.

Had a Montana 650t
Switched to a Rino 650 and it's a way better unit.

I own several Garmin units including the 450T, 550T, and 650. I don't think the differences comparing the 650 to the 450T are worth any more money. I'd personally buy whichever one you can find fornthe cheapest. If you want one a lot more advanced, buy the Monterra. The Monterra I have is bigger that the 450-650s, but smaller and thinner than the Montana's.

Agree with the rhino comment, it's nice having your buddy able to walk right to you when you have an animal down.

whatever unit you get  make  sure   you budget  for the ON X maps for it..

Literally just got the 450t yesterday. Took it out already and I like it. My onX chip is already on the way though. I carry a good digital camera with me and most of my areas I hunt have cell service now so when I saw the 450t for 250 bucks I jumped on it. No reason for me to pay more for unneeded features.

I had a Oregon 650T and it was great. I sold it to upgrade to a Rhino 650, only because all the guys I hunt with have Rhinos. My advise would be this, if anyone you hut with has a Rhino, then get a Rhino. If not, then get a Oregon. Also, if you plan to put OnX Maps on it, then there is no need to get a model with "T". OnX comes with topographic maps, so if you can, save the money and the savings will cover the cost of the map chip. I got my Rhino 650 on sale at Cabelas for $309.00, between a sale and a coupon.
