So are those bulls safe now or can the natives still get them?

I'm not sure the natives know they are there.    :chuckle:

Oak creek feeding station is closed to hunting when the gates close.

So can you tell how the herd is doing sense the snow has pushed them down compared to other years?

I haven't noticed anything.   Some awfully young calves in the welfare line.   There are more elk down in the lowlands than I have seen in a long time.

Three or four years ago I saw one with spots, it was crazy.

I did too Rainier.   I imagine that in the wild, they'd be coyote scat.   Not sure sometimes how good the welfare program is for the herd.

retied officer Bruce Richards told me this recently.  He responded to a call in late December in 2014 or 2013, I can't remember which one, where two big Bulls were fighting in a west side private back yard.  When he showed up, one of the Bulls had to be put down because of his wounds. He personally talked about seeing more late, late breeding than he's ever seen.  It's interesting

From this weekend.

That calf gave you away, feeding elk from your hand to get him to recognize you in 6 or 7 years and come running. :chuckle:

I was in Washington this week and stopped by to look. Weather was dreary and the light sucked for photos but I took a few anyway.

And a video I made.
