Heck yes...dog food is cheaper...they will eat anything and I mean anything.  Even your cat itself.  Tuna just for the stink, but if you know they are there just set the food out.  Put it where they feel a little secure and wack em.

When I was camping with my sis and her husband out in Minnesota last summer, we mistakenly left the cooler outside all night. Needless to say, our camp was raided by a fat, bear-cub sized coon that night. He made so much noise that I thought a person was in our camp. He had his head and whole upper body inside the cooler. The next morning we found that he had eaten almost everything, including the fishing worms, chocolate bars, sandwiches, hamburger, etc....

Find you a log, bore about a 1" hole about 3" deep in the log. drop a shiny washer in the hole. Drive some small nails into the hole so it makes a one way trap. Drop some fish oil in the hole as a attractant.. they wont leave it alone. They see the shiny object in the hole, reach in and grab it, they wont let go to get their hand out. Wack em with a baseball bat.  :chuckle:

When I put some wet cob out for the deer, the raccoons ate it all.
