Gotta love chasing coyotes in the snow!
« on: January 05, 2016, 06:19:39 AM »
Had a great day Sunday. Snuck up on 5, but managed to get only one. Not sure if it's me or the gun, probably me. Ended up seeing a total of 21, some where probably the same, but I know for sure at least 11 were different. It's amazing how far away you can see'em in the snow. Makes a guy wonder how many he walks by when there is no snow.

Used the 22-250 with a new 4.5-14x40 Leupold. The shot was just in front of the shoulder so it tore up the neck a little.  I had a hard time getting on coyotes when the scope was turned up high. Not real happy with the setup now. Guess I'll buy a new rifle and go a different direction. Something a little lighter.

Yeah, snow makes a BIG difference!  Wish I had some here.  Without it I figure you miss seeing over half of them, they blend so well.

That's a heck of a day, spotting 21.

Nice.

Thanks for the heads up, but my wife bought the 22-250 for Birthday, so it's not going anywhere.

What did we see that one day wolftrapper? If I remember correctly it was 44 and zero dirt naps! That was a definite record for me.
