Need some help here. Shot this duck today and at first thought pintail hen. Now looking closer I'm not too sure.

Turn it over pintail hen will be brown underneath and a widgeon will be white
After the first shot the rest are just noise.

Wigeon hen or eclipse wigeon drake.  I would just have to see a few more pics of the head and belly.   Leaning towards a hen.
Cut em!
It's not the shells!  It's the shooter!

It has some drake feathers on its back and has black  feathers coming in around its tail. Also, the wing patches are bigger than any hen ive ever shot.

Immature Drake Widgeon.  Look at the head.  The kind of spotty speckly pattern is indicative of a widgeon.  The black tail and grey feet point to widgeon as well.  The last thing is the speculum.  Solid black is widgeon.  A gadwall will have a chocolate brown speculem.
