AR Lowers
« on: January 07, 2016, 10:09:40 AM »
So my lovely wife is starting her new women's group called well armed woman. Her first meeting covers AR's for home defense. I'd like to get a stripped lower, and surprise her with it when she returns from her meeting. Anyone have any preferences or brands for stripped lowers?

If weight will be a factor, might look at some of the polymer versions.

Take you pick of forged lowers, there are many. Bushmaster, Aderson, Palmentto and on and on. All are Mil-Spec. Billet is a whole different story, most are quality lowers. With the billet comes the visual aspect, they are machines in many different way. Some are  blocky with sharper, right angles and such and some or more flowing more "Polished" so to say. You will be good to go with most "Forged" lowers and take your pick of the billet lowers. Depending on what visually works for you.

Mega Arms does some good looking billet stuff but there are many to choose from.

They meet at Norpoint in Arlington once a month.

Aero Precision

http://aeroprecisionusa.com/

Made in Tacoma and they supply a lot of the better AR manufacturers.  You can get blems direct from Aero for a great price or if you want some custom color they offer Ceracoat in a number of colors.

I've come to really like the cheap Anderson lowers. A stripped lower and a lower parts kit is a great starter pack. 30 minutes and a youtube video later, they're all set. No better way to get to know the platform.

Make sure they go over the risks of over penetration if using a high caliber rifle for home defense.
