Looking for a lab breeder in Eastern Wa
« on: January 24, 2009, 11:12:55 PM »
I posted this earlier on the General Board, but thought I would put it here too.

My golden died last year and I  have been promising my boy that we would get a lab.  His birthday is next month.  Anybody know a decent lab breeder where I can get a puppy for around $400?

Any help would be appreciated.  Thanx

I don't know what they charge, but Doug and Alice @ Upland Dogs/Cooke Canyon in Ellensburg breed labs.  They're very knowledgeable about the breed, and honest.  They just had a litter of yellows, don't know if any are left.

Pathfinder I have had 2 of Cooke Canyons labs and both where outstanding in the field as well as at home. The dogs are very solid upland dogs ( both solid on point) and great in the water. I would highly recommend Doug and Alices dogs,Great people and great dogs.. My first lab from them is on thier pointing lab page his name was Ruger.. Ruger got killed shortly after I got him back from training. Now I have Harley and His dad is Hornet also on the same page.. Good Luck

Spur,
How do I get in contact with your roommate?  10 weeks is a little old, but I may have to consider it.  Every other breeder is around $700.

What are you going to do?

Well me, I do not have any guns, gave away or sold them 15 years ago.

Thanks everyone.  We settled on a yellow lab from Black Sands Labs in Moses Lake.  Good deal, seems to be a great little dog (so far).  Both parents hunt and I like the blood lines, plus he came with a hip/shoulder guarantee.  His name is Rocky.

Yeah, on the way back from the breeder, with the puppy sleeping on his lap, my son said:  "I love him soo much.  Is this how you and mom feel about me..."

I'll be honest, I teared up a little...

Here's another picture.  This one is our 1 1/2 year old "helping" the puppy sleep.
