Best $415 rangefinder ever!
« on: January 08, 2016, 11:23:26 AM »
I just unboxed the sig kilo. I purchased it from savinglots which cost me $414.00 to my door and it was about a week to get here. I pulled it out and stepped outside. I can see a snow pile down the way that is barely visible due to the fog. I click and POW 459 yards...instantly. My leica does not like snow, and it does not like fog. this thing did it instantly. I will be hoping the weather will allow a break and see what the top end is. Many are claiming over 3k yard pings and given the speed of return at 460 yds.....I am hoping it will get close to that.

I have a bushnell conex on the way too, but this thing is small and powerful. worth checking out and a shameless plug for the site I bought it from....I was a bit nervous as the price was 25% below the avg street price....my googlefu showed good standing with the BBB so I risked it. Glad I did!

Bob, I just pinged a stop sign @ 412 yds through the windshield in the fog.

780 on a truck is as far as I can see. If it doesn't have a target, the fog is returning 29-31 yds. Uber impressed.

It sounds encouraging. I'm a Leica fan and have ranged large, highly reflective objects over 2K with it but it doesn't do well in fog and rain. I think one of the more important tests is how far it can range game animals under varying conditions.

Every thread I read makes me want to pull the trigger even more. Here is a great thread where a lot of testing has been done with one
http://www.longrangehunting.com/forums/f18/sig-sauer-kilo-2000-rangefinder-161599/

Only downside I have read, is that the waterproof rating leads one to believe it cannot be submersed. Not like you are ranging underwater, but good to know in case you are in an area where dropping it into a creek is a potential issue.

Thanks for the review, I have a Vortex and it let me down the last two hunts.  Now, I can't seem to range anything over about 30 yards, including houses and cars.  I'll be giving them a call, but not overly impressed with the one I have.

Sounds like they're giving Leica a good run for the money.

When it cleared off tonight it was quick to ping 2257 yards on a building. I was able to get hits on snow in the sun at 850yds instantly. I'm super impressed.

When I saw your thread title I guessed it would be the Sig Kilo you were talking about. My brother just got one and I've only used it a little, but was very surprised/impressed. Scanning with the rangefinder was very impressive as well, very quick changes and readouts. It picked up the one-mile target first try. I'm jealous I didn't get one for Christmas!

I picked one up a few weeks ago. You wont find a better one for the money. I prefer it over the Leica and its not even close how much better it is than the Vortex and the Leupold. Super fast one tap and scanning is immediate
The mountains are calling and I must go
