What? Bartering for game meat. Not sure I grasp what you are wanting... If you have a computer and have the time to post this....I think you can afford to run down to Yokes and get some ground round for cheap without needing to barter.  :dunno:
Wild Turkey, Walleyes, Whitetails and Wapiti..These are a few of my favorite things!!

I 'm just looking for some meat. That someone would be willing to sell or I suggested trade-barter, because I was not sure on the laws in Washington on buying meat from local hunters.  Sorry for the confusion. I should of been more clear in what I was looking for.  Thanks Gabe

I know you can't sell it, and trading for financial gain would fall under that.  The only thing I think you could trade for would maybe...I mean maybe food items.  Someone could give you some.  If you really want some you should have looked earlier.  I doubt this forum has many members who give away their game meat.  That being said there are some people who kill deer and give it or some of it away.

You can legally donate or give meat away, just need a letter with license/tag numbers, date of gift, and signature.  That note must stay with the meat in the freezer.

I've donated whole deer to food banks, etc. who legally take game donations, mostly in the mid-west.

I give meat to a fella who was born with horrible genetics.  So the only meat he can eat is wild game because of the low fat content.  He gets all he wants.  If my family wants any they can come get what they want.    But I think it is legal for trading like equal quanities like 15 lbs of deer meat for 15 lbs of salmon but at equal values.  We need someone from Washington Department Fish and Game to get on here and let us know.

This one topic that has cut close to home. Entirely different laws apply from state to state. Here in Washington there are so many laws that there are two books.

RCW 16.49.075
Unlawful acts — Selling, trading, or giving away uninspected meat or meat products — Interfering with director's duties.

It is unlawful for any person to:

     (1) Sell, trade, or give away uninspected meat or meat products; or

     (2) Interfere with the director in the performance of his or her duties under this chapter or the rules adopted under this chapter.

Got to get into the WAC codes to see the punishment. It is $1,000. fine per violation per day. The interfering part two because the director can use extordinary powers to enforce this. Each package of meat that goes through a custom meat processing plant that comes from an animal that was not killed in a USDA certified facility has to be clearly marked "not for sale".

Over the farm gate way around this is to sell live farm animals or shares (half , quarter) on the hoof. The offical "why" is that this is supposed to be in the interest of public health. I see it as self interest of huge out of state meat packing plants.

Back to hunting though believe it is common for hunting parties to divide the food rewards of the mutual effort.
