How about just being able to fill the cougar tag legally by using a cage trap?

     I like that idea ! Hmmmm now our state department needs to get on board with the same idea

I'm all for it. But getting the game depth to get on board is gonna be tough.
It's not the size of the trophy that make's it a trophy.

Caught a possum today shot, skinned, and tossed back in trap for bait. Man I was happy to see the door closed, but not happy to see him. Moved 3 traps and rebaited. Thinking of moving the beaver trap. Havn't seen any fresh sign since I caught the the big guy Firday.  Might move it 200 yards down.  Hopping to have 2 swim through traps made by friday and get them in the water. Need me a otter.

Well nothing in bobcat or beaver sets. I did move the beaver trap back to the old spot in front of the brake in pond dam. Last night I cleaned out the brake in dam. Water was running good. No sign in area since Friday. I caught a 30 pounder and was thinking of pulling the trap. Just havent seen any new sign. Tonight there was sign and the dam was fixed.  The beavers are still around. Good I pulled up the trap and moved it in front of the dam. Pulled the weeds and sticks out and Put the Handcock deeper in the water to drown the beaver if caught.  The water is flowing good. Hope he comes to fix the dam. Thanks for reading

Well no luck. Beaver avoiding trap, animal robbed me clean, and 2 other traps meat is still there. Pulled one trapband moved it closer to my other one that got robbed. Forgot the bait :bash: So I plasted bait lure and fish oil/beaver caster. You never know it might work. What ever ate my bait was lucky the trigger pad had a branch and rock stuck under pad. Lucky devil. Heading out tomorrow to rebait traps.

Was cleaned out of bait on one trap and 2 traps pad had sticks from keeping the door from triggering.  :bash: fixed it and rebaited with fresh beaver and placed 2 cheap smaller traps out. Cats can fit in them but will see. Looked to day and nothing. Hmmmm looked at the trap just off the road and door was down.  :yike: couldnt see in side but it looked like another possum. I was about to move the ferns and noticed puffy tail. Oh no skunk backed off and grabbed the pistol sat 4 ft away and waited for the head shot thru trap. Skunk down and didnt get sprayed. Small spotted skunk my first one. Will be easy to skin. Should I save the body for bobcat bait or the musk glan?

IMO the civet carcasses are not much good for bait except if you wish to catch more civits.
Sounds like you already made a decision on the glands. :chuckle:
