If you launched a boat where I'm thinking y'all went there are 2 options.  1 has to do with carrying and the other is a ramp.  Best advice I could give you is always launch on an outgoing tide otherwise you're going to be pretending you're going through BUDS.

we pretended we were in BUDS. and on top of that the waves were knocking the boat into the rocks. luckily my boat is a Livingston and fiberglass. but it was fun. we should have taken the ramp.

Next time sit about 10 yards off shore with your dekes another 15 yards out.  It'll be easier.
