Son's first season(what a success!)
« on: January 10, 2016, 08:53:18 AM »
My son drew a youth cow permit and harvested his first elk on November 11th. at the end of our first day out where he made a beautiful 150 yard free-hand shot and dropped her. I was lucky enough to be right beside him through the whole ordeal and experience the excitement and accomplishment. On the second day of modern rifle season we were able to put a 1 hour stalk on a 6x5 mule deer buck which he shot at 275 yards bedded down. Again he made a wonderful shot and the excitement was astounding. There is nothing like watching your kids harvest their first animals. My son is chomping at the bit to get the shoulder mount back from the taxidermist. I will post story and pics in the deer hunting section later.
