Used leupold! Got a long range tactical for a third of new. Warranty can't be beat! :twocents: don't ban me BOB! Just an opinion.
Agree Nikon are really good scopes!
I think glass is so good now that it comes down to mechanics.
Sorry again BOB. Ill shut up now.

All things being equal, I spent the money and went with the Zeiss HD5 2-10x42 with the RZ600 ballistic reticle. Good to 600 yards and that's farther than I care to shoot. I like this scope because Zeiss takes the work out of it with their ballistic calculator site. Great tool for calculating hand load trajectories.
I picked this up for $649 on clearance at bass pro, normally was $929!

I like the Vortex Diamondback HP with the bdc reticle in that price range. Right at $300.
:dunno:
I have one 4-16x42. Great scope for the $$.

Look into SWFA if you plan on twisting turrets. Specifically their sample/demo list for fixed power.

Check out Nikon's PROSTAFF 5 3.5-14x40 BDC. The BDC will let you use Nikon's Spot On Program to dial in your BDC reticle to the ammo you are using. If you are wondering how accurate is it, I have helped train and then watched guy's new to BDC scope's hit 4 inch jars of tannerite at 600 yards. Nothing like a good explosion to make someone a believer. I have also used Nikon's BDC scope's  to harvest a number of Kansas doe between 500-600 yards as well. Check it out then check out some of hunting-Washington's sponsor's to see if any can help you out.
I put the PROSTAFF 5 3.5-14 BDC on the rifle my now 80 year old Father In-Law uses. He has gone 6:6 the last 3 years.

If you can come up with ~ another buck fifty.  I have a mess of these including a couple of the exact same 4-20x50, mine are all Nitrex TR2 by Weaver branded, and are five years old or so.  But they are the very same scope and they are my favorite 4-20 class scopes.  I have never had any trouble with any of them.
