I probably spend too much time walking out there.  If you shed hunt it you will probably be disappointed.  I think I average 7-10 miles per horn I find.  Deer really do not have pattern so it is just randomly wanking around.  Plus throw in the people, pot growers, horseback riders, and my favorite, the ATVs, those deer can move long distances in no time.  One time I found 2 nudie magazines over 1/2 mile form any road, makes you wonder what the hell.  No trying to discourage you, but most people overate the desert for deer/sheds.
I've hunted almost everyday of my life, the rest have been wasted.

I have hiked alot and I mean ALOT of miles o
ut there and haven't fo
und much to show for it.   They also tend to drop later than any mulies in the state.

They drop late for sure, too late.  Usually already warm and they are scattered everywhere.

Its the first place in the state that the snow is clear so very tempting.   Now I" will be more interested in carrying my camera getting p
ics when no one else is packin.

I agree with all of the above. Lots of hiking for very little reward. I've found more skulls with antlers than I have sheds. Poaching???? I have seen deer with both antlers on Easter weekend in years past. My in-laws live up there so it gives me something to do when we visit.

These bucks carry their antlers a lot longer than other mulies in this state. You might start to find sheds this early, but you will see a lot of bucks still packing in March. I've put a lot of miles on out there in the last few years and have little to show for. Good luck.

I know a couple locals who do alright in that unit. They have their honey holes they have found over the years and have found a few spots from guys posting on the web.
