I checked out and read a bundle of deer and elk books from the library in years past while trying to figure out how to be a successful hunter - don't overlook that resource.
Older book but the book 'Elk Talk' by Don Laubach and Mark Henckel was a good read and I think I will go into my first rut archery elk hunt this year better off for having read it. Even if you aren't planning to hunt in the rut there is a lot of good info in the book about elk habits throughout the seasons and hunting tactics to useSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Something that people overlook when digging up reading material when it pertains to hunting is literature on the animal itself. Understanding animal behavior, breeding habits, migration habits, and food sources is a huge asset in the field. Anything Valerius Geist is solid.

Make sure you have some caffeine handy just in case.
