Out of state information subscription services

There seems to be a lot of websites and magazines that compile data for western hunting. I've heard that eastmans magazine has this data with the subscription so I would get a magazine out of it. I've also heard a lot about go hunt service lately, kind of spendy though. I'm looking to gather data for out of state hunting in the best way possible, something that will breakdown the draws, units, percentages for each individual state. Do any of you have any experience with these services? I know I can find the information myself, but if I can pay a small fee for the info organized for me then that would be worth it to me

I've looked over a few. Huntin fool is pretty good if you are new to putting in for different states. They cover a ton of states, and more every year it seems. If you have applied before then it's not that great. It also is a magazine like eastmans is.

Something to think about. If you are just starting out and are going to apply for multiple states, it might be less expensive to just buy tags every year. It's getting harder and harder to draw tags every year with the point creep. NV, UT, AZ, ID, they all make you purchase a license just to apply. Its not cheap.

Eastman is WAY over rated.  The MRS hasn't changed in a decade.  Go hunt is my favorite.  Those guys are getting after it and actively updating info and innovating new ways to educate and inform you on all of it.

There are multiple methods to the out of state madness.  If you wanna hunt, otc tags are your bread and butter.  Pick states where you can apply for good LE tags but still get to use that license you bought and go hunting.  Most all the states have some sort of tag you can pick up and hunt on whether it be left overs, second choices, or general season hunts.  The other option is point building for a great tag, where you just start applying and hope to one day pull a great tag.  You are WAY behind the curve though if not already started.

That would be nice, but I am thinking about spreading it around a little on auction/governor's tags, start a collection of 200" deer and 400" elk.  I was thinking about lion hunting also but I heard "he's dead".

I'd be doing a lot of sheep and moose hunting. To heck with deer and elk- I'd leave them for the peasants.

I guess I didn't think of that, I should get the sheep out of the way while I am still young and worry about the elk when I am older and can bait them in with marshmellows. 

Seriously though, I think that just hunting states with good OTC opportunity is the way to go, there are many that have way better opportunity than here, just not as convenient.

If you are just starting the out of state game I would buy the huntin fool.  And I would call them today so you can get there January issue.  The first 6 issues cover all the western states starting with January.

I have talked to the go hunt guys and just got a weird feeling from them so I haven't bought there info yet.

If you want to go with a application service I would go with epic outdoors.  They use to be with the huntinfool and are a bunch of good guys to talk with.  Plus I trust them more than I do the guys at cabelas.

Gohunt by far is the best imo. Price point isn't bad if you go in on it with friends.

I would recommend Huntin fool. I have called and talked to their hunt advisors on a couple occasions and they are great to talk to. Seem like down to earth guys, not big headed like I have noticed with some of the Eastmans crew.

Or you could use Bigshooter services, Hes one of the most knowledgeable guys I know for all the western states.

What do you mean you got a wierd feeling? A lot of podcasters are big on the gohunt train curious what's it all about. Does hunting fool have general info or just trophy stuff?
