How difficult is it to draw a multi-season tag?
« on: October 04, 2007, 09:14:09 AM »
Just curious on how many points it takes to draw the multiseason tag? I hunted archery this year, my son has a muzzleloader tag and I have a group of friends who hunt modern firearm. I think it would be fun to have the option to hunt a portion of each season if I had the opportunity.

If you don't draw on the first time, then odds are pretty good on the 2nd and 3rd time.  Every year many of these go unsold, kind of a waste in my opinion.  This is deer I'm talking about.

That's what I was thinking....how come I'm not getting drawn when I've heard multi season permits are going unsold and there really hasn't been much of a chance to build up points?

I'm referring to elk, but it might be fun to hunt deer with multiple weapons as well. It's mostly about getting out in the woods so the more opportunities the better.

Dose the multi season tag go on a point system?
Not sure what the odds are,but this was the first time I put in for it,missed the deadline last year.I put in for both deer and elk,was selected for the elk tag and purchased it,later I recieved a letter saying I was selected for the deer tag in a second chance drawing, but decided not to purchase the deer tag.

You mean they actually have a deadline....like a cutoff point?

Last year they gave out 500 elk tags and 1500 deer tags.  They had something like 3500 people apply for the elk and 1900 apply for the deer. The deadline is the beginning of march. The reason why there are left over tags is, I don't think people know that it cost $164.00 for the tag deer or elk.  So then after the period to purchase the tags is over they have a list of who is next in line and offer them the tag.

Well, I drew last year first round, and again this year who knows what round........last round I guess.  I can choose anytime this year to purchase it as there is no deadline now.  the bow season had already been going a week when I found out I drew.

I drew the deer tag last year but never had the time to use all the weapons. I think I would use the elk multi-season tag though. I like the idea of hunting elk with a bow during the rut. I have mainly been buying a WA elk tag just for a chance to get a permit in a trophy area.
