New "sticky" thread idea
« on: January 22, 2016, 10:44:21 AM »
Floating this out there. How about a "sticky" thread that stays up top in the "organizations" category. Those that are members at ranges, or organize shoots (like Drock and the Granit range), or interested in local ranges, locations, activities, those kind of things...can all be posted, discussed, and questions can be asked in an ongoing thread.

Good? Bad? Needed/Not needed?

Just throwing that out there.

I started a silver arrow bowmen thread just to give the club more exposure. I try and keep it updated at least once a month with new stuff thats happening. That thread is almost always on the first page.

If it were me id have a locked sticky that had links to all hunting and fishing related organizations. Keeping this stuff up could be a pain and most internet searches could yeild the same thing... perhaps it would be worth it to get some one pointed in the right direction.

If anyone wants to post links here, I'll make a thread.
Or we can just sticky this one.
I think it's a great idea to keep a list of ranges. Maybe even include archery pro shops, gun shops, etc.

I guess I'd also maybe consider whether or not this thread should include reviews of the businesses. I'd lean towards no on that.

Don't fall into the trap. Hunting is-and always will be- about the hunt, the adventure, the views, and time spent with close friends and family. " Ryan Hatfield

It would turn into a mess if it has reviews.

I would think "no" to the reviews...

My idea would be something like....Public shoot open at SRPC (Machias) for archery starting X at the archery range.......open to the public 500 yard any sights.....3d shoot on this date at Granit.....Posting a question like Where can I shoot trap as a guest around X city...

Title suggestions?

An easy way to find this info is to find the association the clubs/ranges belong to. For example the WSAA has a listing of archery clubs and pro shops around the state with thier website and location. They dont have all the clubs or ranges but its a big chunk.

For trap,rifle/pistol clubs what are the national orgs they belong to that provide insurance and competition rules? Should be fairly easy to consolidate a list if we know those answers.

So up top we have a sticky locked list of links to find different kinds of ranges in Wa state. Trap, rifle/pistol, and Archery These are just the low hanging fruit i could find and there may be other categories you all had in mind. Use this thread to make suggestions. Ill do a little more searching over the weekend to find out if there are other categories or lists we should add.
