DARN! Too bad they  moved out. Must have got fed up with washingtons hunting proposals and went to Idaho  ;)
Doubt it. They know they are safe here.  :chuckle:

Enjoyed seeing the pictures. Thank you for sharing. Read somewhere that a bear will have 14 or so beds in their range. Some are day napping some for night sleeping and some for hibernating. There is guy in Pennslyvania that's job is inspecting bear dens. Here is a link with a picture showing him knee deep upside down head first in one.

I did not take those pics. A family friend did.
The story goes that they were logging on Fort Lewis and found the den. They called a bio who came out to take a look. Typically a black bear sow will leave her cubs and this one did just that. She did hang out on the perimeter. The bio pulled the cubs out to weigh them, etc. Then they were placed back in the den and momma returned.

When do bears give birth? what month? Why I ask is because I have a bear whos been living behind the house past 3 months and lately I have only seen the bear twice, where before i would see it everyday. It seems that the bear was getting bigger by my trailcam pics.(belly). Could the bear had cubs and is hanging with them more. Pics of the bear on trailcam tread (Sequim bear). Cool den pics..
