It's big and heavy.  I forgot my tripod and had to hand hold all these.  They make good IS these days so handholding is more productive than in the past.

I've never seen any owl(s) out in the wild like that, seen tons of hawks, bald eagles, etc.

Never an owl though. VERY COOL!
