Mini14, Burris Speeddot 135, and magnifier
« on: January 17, 2016, 09:09:17 AM »
About a year ago I bought a Mini14 180 series off my dad. This was not my first choice of coyote rifle, but I did it to help my parents out. They had a bunch of guns in pawn that they were about to loose, so I paid the ticket off in trade for this rifle.

Now being this is a 180 series it has no provisions for scoping. There are aftermarket hand guards with picitini mounts available. I found a screaming deal on an Aimtech. I was looking for a LER scope when my dad offered his pistol scope. It is a 3x20 and worked alright. I had to have it mounted as far forward on the Aimtech as possible.

For Christmas he ended up buying me a Burris Speeddot 135. I have not had time to mount this up yet as our Christmas happened just last weekend and it has been too cold here this weekend for me to want to head out to sight it in.

My question and reason for this post is I was looking at magnifiers. I am not sure yet if I will need one as I have not used the red dot yet. But upon my research I am not able to find anything with a LER. The longest I find is about 3.5 inches. I need about 8 inches to clear the flying brass. I was curious if there are any 3x or so magnifiers with longer eye reliefs? With my rifle I do not see myself taking anything much further than 150 yards or so.

Look at the red dot mount that G,G,&G sell. Their website is gggaz.com. I have a Burris red dot mounted on my Mini-14. Low profile, worked out real nicely for a mid-range coyote rifle.
